Clients are always surprised at the simplicity of my financial solutions. In my experience, the real challenge lies in seeing the big picture and analyzing all the working parts. By delivering an approachable plan, I help my clients clarify the path to their goals. I feel lucky to do this work; I get to help people from all walks of life that are doing well in the world.
I help young professionals balance their long-term goals with their day-to-day choices. I help mature couples confirm that their diligence has paid off and they’re ready to retire. I help business owners and entrepreneurs protect their business continuity, their employees, and their incomes earning ability.
For those facing retirement and the sunset years, I offer dignity and care in case of illness and a loss of to take care of oneself adequately. CARP approved programs to provide long term care in their own homes can be arranged.
For those who care about the less fortunate in our world, want to leave a legacy, I provide low-cost pathways to give tax-advantaged gifts to their causes, faith-groups and charities.
Early in my previous career as a teacher in Africa, and later, at the United Nations International School in New York City, I advocated for women and children by volunteering at the United Way, on the Boards of YWCA and the Coalition of 100 Black Women. Later, in Greater Toronto, I continued my involvement with Charities and Non-Profits as a volunteer and a consultant at the Redwood Shelter, METRAC, Women’s Support Network of North York, Toronto’s Women’s Group, The Women’s Multicultural Resource Centre, The Violence Prevention Coalition of Durham and Uxbridge, South African Women for Women.
In every case we focused on the need from successful fundraising endeavours as well as capacity growth. I discovered a confluence of sustainable community development and charitable fundraising. This drove me to financial planning. As I offer solutions to families and business owners, I also offer them methods of maximizing their charitable donations and/or tithes to their places of worship.
After completing my university and post-grad studies in London and in New York, I can still remember friends confessing: “The prospect of retirement scares me – I am unprepared” or, “I want to start saving for tomorrow. I think I want to accelerate my RRSP savings; invest in good companies and protect my profit. But I have no idea where to start.” My friends’ and colleagues’ questions brought me to the intersection of sustainable business and personal finance, where after much contemplation, I founded Fairview Financial in 2012 in association with Financial Horizons Group.
As a teacher in my prior work, I was responsible for imparting knowledge, guiding and nurturing my students. In many ways, this still describes my work, but instead of working in a classroom, scrutinizing homework and exams, today I help clients protect their lives, their health, their income and their legacies.
It’s tremendously fulfilling to help my clients make good decisions for their goals and circumstances. I know I’m successful when money and income becomes a positive influence in their lives and in the world.
